Based on the proven "learn by example” principle which, as the name implies, provides real-world examples to illustrate a particular topic or technique, the courses are delivered through our on-line training portal via a standard web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or Safari. The lesson notes are delivered through slides giving you the required information to work through each lesson and there are student files you will download to work on so you are putting into practice what you are learning. You will also be supported by a personal tutor who is available to provide feedback on your work at any time throughout the period of study.

The Webmaster: HTML & CSS for Beginners - Level 3 Course teaches the construction of web pages using Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and some basic JavaScript programming. Students will enjoy this beginners course which takes them through the creative process of designing their own web pages and they will also build their own store front, using some compelling animation, transition, and transformation techniques to attract their visitors.

• Webmaster: Advanced HTML & CSS - Level 4 Course

The Webmaster: Advanced HTML & CSS - Level 4 Course teaches you how responsive web design techniques can be used to build visually-stunning websites using the very latest HTML5 and CSS3 technology. A responsive website automatically supports an optimised viewing experience across a wide range of devices, from PCs and laptops to tablets and smartphones, ensuring the website look-and-feel is consistent and designed to the best possible standards.

On successful completion of this course, students will receive the Distance Learning Centre Webmaster Advanced HTML & CSS Diploma with comprehensive feedback and analysis of their course work, as well as an Open Awards Quality Endorsed Unit Course Certificate with 8 Open Awards Credits.

You should have a working knowledge of your computer and operating system, including accessing the frequently-used menus and commands, and how to open, save, and close files.

Computer & Software Requirements:

To complete this course you will need a Windows or Apple Mac PC with at least 1gb of spare disk space and a subscription to Adobe’s Photoshop CC software, with both Photoshop CC and Bridge CC installed. 

Students may register at any time and have 18 months to complete their studies. A personal tutor will be allocated to each student for email support during this period. Course extensions can be purchased if you do not complete this course within the designated two year period. As each course is self-paced, you can complete them in as little or as long a time as you choose.

You will be assessed on your completed coursework, which consists of designing and building a range of web pages and other exercises and assignments, and your work can be sent to your personal tutor by email (preferred) or by post.

On successful completion of the courses, students will receive Webmaster Diplomas with comprehensive feedback and, providing the assignments have been completed to the required standards, students will also receive the following Open Awards Quality Endorsed Unit Course Certificates:

• Open Awards Webmaster: HTML & CSS for Beginners - Level 3 (8 Open Awards Credits).
• Open Awards Webmaster: Advanced HTML & CSS - Level 4 (9 Open Awards Credits).

The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future.
