The Health & Social Care - CACHE Level 3 Award (RQF) Course is suitable for anyone wanting to explore a career in the care sector, as it is designed to broaden awareness on how to work with people of varying age groups and with different care needs.

Learners will discover assistance and support is offered within health and social care settings and the qualification is an ideal starting point for anyone looking to start a rewarding career in residential care homes, nursing homes, day centres, supported accommodation and other health care settings.

On completion of this qualification, you will be confident in taking the next steps on the career/educational ladder and you will gain essential knowledge of what is required to successfully work within a care setting as well as provide assistance to those with a wide range of needs.

On successful completion on this course students will receive an accredited CACHE Level 3 Award Qualification with up to 28 UCAS Points.

This is a graded qualification and allows learners to earn UCAS points depending on the final grade gained:

A* - 28
A - 24
B - 20
C - 16
D - 12

The Health & Social Care - CACHE Level 3 Award (RQF) Course Includes the Following Units:

Unit Objectives:

  • Understand equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Understand how to work in an inclusive way
  • Understand legislation and codes of practice in relation to inclusive practice in health and social care settings
  • Understand the role of the health and social care practitioner in relation to inclusive practice

  • Understand the key elements of development across human lifespan
  • Understand theories of human growth and development
  • Understand significant life events within each stage of human development

Unit Objectives:

  • Understand safeguarding.
  • Understand how to safeguard individuals in relation to legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Understand factors that may contribute to an individual being vulnerable to harm or abuse.
  • Know signs, symptoms, indicators and behaviours that may cause concern.
  • Understand the lines of reporting and responsibility in relation to the safeguarding, protection and welfare of individuals.
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the health and social care practitioner in relation to safeguarding individuals.
Course Format & Delivery

You will receive access to the course materials through an online portal for a 12-month period. Students can use the portal for accessing their course materials, submitting assignments and to log tutor questions. 

Please Note: An optional hard-copy version of the course notes can be purchased for an additional £48.00. This is useful for learners who also want to study away from the computer and means they have course notes they can keep and refer back to beyond their online course license.

Delivery of the hard-copy materials is usually within 5 to 10 working days by a recorded delivery service.

Prerequistes

There are no particular entry requirements for this course, so students can sign up providing they are comfortable studying at a Level 3 standard.

Course Duration & Online Support

You can start this course at any time, and you would be registered for a one-year period. You also have access to a personal tutor who can be contacted by email. Your tutor is available to assist with any queries and to mark your assignments for the Awarding Body.

As the course is self-study, you can complete it as quickly as you like. Support extensions are available if students do not complete the course within the one-year period.

Assessment

Students will be required to complete a number of assignments. Your personal tutor will review, mark and provide you with feedback on your work. Coursework assignments can be returned by uploading to the online portal, by email or by post.

We recommend that assignments are completed and returned as word-processed documents through the online portal. Handwritten documents can be accepted but need to be clear and legible and may be subject to a longer marking time.

CACHE Level 3 Health & Social Care Award Qualification

The Qualification is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete. On successful completion, learners will gain the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Health and Social Care Qualification.

This qualification has been accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF Qualification Number - 601/6108/5). This is a Level 3 Award Qualification with up to 28 UCAS Points.

CACHE are a national awarding body who offer high-quality qualifications for the care and education industry, making them the UK’s leading sector specialist. Established in 1945 by the Ministry of Health under the name of the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB). In 1994 the NNEB merged with the Council for Early Years Awards to form CACHE. They offer a portfolio of qualifications ranging from Entry to Level 5. This course is purchased through Distance Learning Centre, a partner of NCC. The delivery, assessment and quality assurance will be carried out by NCC who are an approved CACHE centre for assessment and certification.
